Supported by the Victorian Government and delivered by Cancer Council Victoria, the Healthy Early Childhood Services Achievement Program helps services create a healthier environment for their learning community. Knaith Road is proud to be one of 1,300 Victorian services that have signed up to the Achievement Program, and we are well on our way to achieving full accreditation.
Aligned to key policies and guidelines including the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, the National Quality Standard and our Quality Improvement Plan, the program provides a framework designed to help services bring together and enhance current health and wellbeing initiatives to support a whole-of-service approach to health and wellbeing.
The program framework is centred around six key health areas:
• Healthy Eating and Oral Health
• Physical Activity and Movement
• Mental Health and Wellbeing
• Sun Protection
• Safe Environments
• Tobacco, Alcohol and Other Drugs
Each health area has a set of targets to achieve, resulting in healthy changes to our service’s physical environment, policies and practices, and health promoting activities.
Knaith Rd is excited to be promoted as a case study on the HAP department website, and have our achievements celebrated in the EACH Early Years newsletter.
